The Banker magazine, as part of the Innovation in Digital Banking Awards 2024, has decided that the title of Chief Innovation Officer of the Year goes to Slovakia, into the hands of Daniel Minárik, Chief Data and Innovation Officer of Tatra banka.
At the same time, Tatra banka has defended its title as having global The Best Mobile Banking Adaptive Site, awarded by Global Finance as part of the Best Digital Bank Awards.
Slovak Bank as a Global Leader in Innovation
For 19 years, The Banker has been deciding on the best innovators in the banking sector. Each year, based on applications, it selects financial institutions that can set trends in digital banking with their approaches, projects, and initiatives. The digital strategy, children’s mobile application TABI, AI implementation strategy, and Spending planTB contributed to Tatra banka being awarded the most innovative digital bank in Central and Eastern Europe (The Banker’s Innovation in Digital Banking Awards 2024).
The evaluators from The Banker also selected Daniel Minárik as the Chief Innovation Officer of the Year. This title is awarded once a year to one individual on a global level. The evaluators were impressed by the bank’s innovation strategy, as well as the implementation of artificial intelligence, global fintech scout program, or IdeaApp – a process and application for collecting and managing new ideas within the bank. The innovative “spirit” of Tatra banka and activities within the innovation ecosystem also played a role in the decision.
“I am delighted that we, as a bank, continue to lead in innovations, not just in terms of solutions we bring to our clients but also in our long-term strategy and vision in the area of technology and innovation management. We are still at the beginning of implementing our new innovation strategy, and this award signals that we are thinking correctly about the future,” explained Daniel Minárik, Chief Data and Innovation Officer of Tatra banka.
Daniel Minárik joined Tatra banka in 2018 from his own technology start-up, taking on the position of Chief Data Officer. He currently leads the Division of Innovation, Advanced Analytics, and Data Management. He is responsible for creating and implementing strategies in the areas of data management, innovation, and the currently very popular field of artificial intelligence. According to him, in addition to continuously fostering an innovation culture, key elements in the realm of innovation include digital assets, financial literacy, and venture building as a new method of delivering transformative innovations.
